Six and Half Weeks - It's Not Even A Bean

At 4:45 pm today, I went for my first official ultrasound in Marietta. Joey and Kate joined me to catch the first glimpse of the second "bean", but sadly baby #2 is not even the size of a bean. The baby measured 8 mm, which is about the size of a single grain of rice. According to the technician, I can officially announce that I am six and a half weeks pregnant and my new official due date is July 10, 2009. I won't waste your time by posting the ultrasound photo - you can't see anything except to plus signs where they marked to measure the fetus. Plus I'm not too keen on posting my uterus on the world wide web for all to see... No thanks!

The second most asked question I get besides "How far along are you?" and "When are you due?" is "how are you feeling?" I can definitely say that I haven't had morning sickness again this time around, but I definitely have more moments during my second pregnancy where I feel lightheaded and nauseated. Which was one of the big tell tale signs for me this second time around. And I'm tired. But, I've made it two nights so far this week without falling asleep before 9 pm. So far the best way to describe me is tired and hungry.

I've been eating really healthy this time around. I think several months of eating non-stop toddler food will do that to a prego. I've joined Joey on "The Transformation Challenge" which is a diet for him, but a chance to eat healthier and leaner foods for me. The positive is I eat double the portion, but since I'm eating the right foods instead of Mac n' cheese and bits of left over hotdog, I haven't felt as bad. So lots of protein, vegetables, and fruit with an occasional Double Stuff Oreo thrown in the mix. What can I say - it's still a weakness. But I think it also makes for a really sweet baby!

Kate is going to be a Big Sister

Yep, that's right... I'm pregnant!

And this time I figured it out early as opposed to ignoring the signs for an entire first trimester. I have to say it is MUCH easier to spot the early warning signs the second time around. :)

I went to my first official doctor's appointment yesterday, Monday, November 17. As of right now, my doctor estimates that I am between 7-8 weeks. I go back tomorrow at 4:45 pm for an ultrasound so stay tuned for the details...

Halloween 2008

Kate & Hayley close down the party at Weatherstone

Kate & Amy, Avery & Sarah, Hayley & Steph

Amy & Kate

Last night, I met up with two of my friends from work, Stephanie and Sarah, and we enjoyed the Halloween festivities at the Weatherstone neighborhood party. Kate was able to see her friend Hayley, who was dressed as Minnie Mouse as well as Avery Calvert who came dressed as a pony. We all enjoyed getting to catch up off the clock as well as see each others children in costume. The kids also enjoyed painting pumpkins and running around with the other kids who were dressed up!

Berry Patch Farm - In Search of the Perfect Pumpkin

So many pumpkins to choose from...

One last picture before picking out our pumpkins

On Sunday, October 26, we met our friends Hilary & Elliott and their son Davis at Berry Patch Farms in Woodstock, GA to visit the pumpkin patch. We all took a tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch and had fun walking over and picking up lots of tiny pumpkins, squash and gords. We finally made our way over to the big field where we took some pictures of the kids and selected the perfect pumpkin. Kate had fun seeing her friend "baby Davis" and showing him all the different size pumpkins.

Auburn getting ready to punt the football

This fall, the Dufour family made several trips to Auburn to watch the Tigers play. Joey and I absolutely love to go to the football games and tailgate with our family and friends. And it is always neat to run into people that we went to school with who are in town for the game. The best part for us, as parents, has been introducing Kate to Auburn and also the tradition of Auburn football. She loves to go to the tailgate and I also take her to Tiger Walk to see Aubie, the Auburn band, and the cheerleaders. We've taught her how to say "War Eagle" and she has also gotten quite good at singing the Auburn fight song. It's such a treat for Joey and I because some of our best memories are linked to Auburn. We love it because we went to school there and it's also where we said "I do"; and everytime we go back, no matter how long we've been gone - it always feels like home. War Eagle!!!

Party at Roswell Area Park

On Saturday, September 13, Kate invited a few of her friends to Roswell Area Park for a belated birthday party. The kids enjoyed the swings and slides as well as the pizza and cupcakes. Yum! After the party ended, Joey and I carried all the food and party supplies up the hill to load our car. We made the mistake of trying to carry everything in one trip, however Kate stumbled going up the hill solo which only produced a domino effect - I dropped the cookie sheet full of cupcakes which splattered all over the stairs and sidewalk and I also broke a couple of of my small cereal bowls. :( Joey who often refers to me as "Grace" lost control of the cooler in an effort to break mine and Kate's fall. But when it was all said and done, it was still a great party! :)

The Gang's All Here - Melody, Jack, Kate and Davis. We tried hard to get all four of them to look at the camera but it never happend.

Kate loved her cupcake...

... but not as much as Melody!

Kate's Birthday Presents

Kate Meets Snow White & Dopey

Happy Birthday Kate!

Kate's Birthday Cake - Ariel was the theme! :)

On Sunday, August 31, 2008, Kate turned two-years-old. We celebrated her birthday in Auburn, AL at Aunt Sue & Uncle Jerry's house. The theme for the party was Ariel the Little Mermaid, and all of our family did a great job finding special "Ariel-themed" presents for Kate.

Kate & Aubie

Kate posed with Aubie for a few pictures before the Auburn vs. LA Monroe game on Saturday, August 30. Kate enjoyed getting to see the band, cheerleaders, Tiger Paws, and Majorettes before the start of the Spirit Parade. She was so excited when she got to hold an official cheerleader pom pom and did her best War Eagle cheer! Mom and Dad can't wait to see her on the field cheering on the Auburn Tigers.

Dinner at Cinderella's Castle

On Monday night of our Disney trip, our family dined at Cinderella's Royal Table, which is located inside Cinderella's Castle at the Magic Kingdom. We were entertained by Cinderella's friends and the Fairy Godmother who made a special appearance and treated us to a song. It was a dream come true!

Kate Meets Ariel

The highlight of our trip at the Magic Kingdom was taking Kate to meet Ariel at her grotto. If you haven't heard, Kate is a BIG Ariel fan! She loves to watch "The Little Mermaid" and loves to sing the songs from the movie. This was such a special treat for our entire family to witness their first official meeting. Kate couldn't wait to see her and when it finally became her turn with Ariel she hesitated a little and got very quiet - she was in awe - but she lit up with a big smile when Ariel sang "Ahh ahh ahh..."

Once Upon A Princesses Dream

The Dufour family spent last week at Disney World and we had a blast! Before our dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table on Monday night, I bought Kate a princess outfit, which she wore again on Wednesday for Storybook Princess breakfast at Epcot at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. Kate watches her Disney movies on a regular basis and she was in awe when she met some of her favorites. We hope you enjoy this video so you can get a glimpse of the magic we experienced with our daughter!

Potty Training - Success

Tonight, Kate went to the bathroom on her big girl potty!
She told me that she needed to go potty and when I took off her diaper she sat down and went! After a lot of fake pottying - we finally succeeded! Yay Kate!

Chef Mickey's

On Monday, we had a EARLY morning breakfast (7:20 a.m.) with Chef Mickey Mouse and friends at Disney's Contemporary resort. Kate enjoyed posing for pictures and interacting with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy while Mom, Dad, and JoJo enjoyed breakfast along with a couple of pots of coffee! :) My friend Hilary recommended Chef Mickey's over our original reservation at 1900 Park Fare and I'm so glad I took her advice and switched. The breakfast food was excellent - they had everything you could ever imagine wanting for breakfast and more. Plus, it was great for us having a small child to knock out pictures with Mickey & Gang early so we could enjoy more of the park amenities! It was nice not having to wait in long character greeting lines as your entering the Magic Kingdom.

Sea World

Shamu... where are you?

Shamu gives the audience a bath

Before heading to Disney World on Sunday, Joey, Kate, Johanna, and I stopped at SeaWorld to check out the Shamu show! I haven't been to SeaWorld since 1980-something, whenever my parents took me and Matt when we were younger so it was great to experience the park and the exhibits all over again. The Shamu show was a lot of fun and it was great to watch the trainers swim with the killer whales. We were also secretly glad that we didn't sit down in front because one of Shamu's tricks is to use his dorsal fin to soak the audience. Although as hot as it was it would have probably felt pretty good!
