Our Family Holiday Letter

Dear Friends and Family,

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! In the effort to force you all into reading our blog, I've decided to post our first online holiday newsletter!

2009 was a very exciting year for The Dufour Family. On July 3, we welcomed (our fourth and FINAL member) our son, Brendyn. Since I haven't blogged about him lately, I'll start with our youngest addition. Brendyn is currently 5 months old and he weighs 18 lbs 4 ounces and is wearing nine month clothing! His bottom two teeth are already showing and with the way he's drooling I am sure we're going to see more soon! His skill set includes rolling over from his back to his tummy and can even manage to roll around on the floor and is working on sitting up. This month he started eating baby food and of course he loves it! He had no problem eating off the spoon. The only problem we do have during feeding time is that I don't get the food in his mouth fast enough!

We often refer to Brendyn as our "mellow fellow." He is the most quiet and content baby and is alway so happy to be part of anything that we are doing so long as he has a full tummy. WIth a family full of talkers, Joey and I were initially worried that Kate would do all the talking for Brendyn, but we stopped worrying a couple of months ago! He found his voice and has no problem making noise when he wants our undivided attention. Last weekend, we all heard Brendyn's belly laugh for the first time. I'll post that video too. He's just precious and perfect and we love him so much!

This year was also a very busy year for Kate. Kate is now three-years-old. This summer, we enrolled her in her first dance class and this fall she played in the Happy Feet Soccer League. She was the youngest and only female player on her team. A future Mia Hamm, she had no problem keeping up with the 4 to 5-year-old boys! Kate is also enjoying pre-school. Currently, her class is working on the alphabet and learning the sounds that each letter makes. Joey and I are learning lots of new pre-school songs associated with the alphabet.

This year, I had an opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with Kate from February-June, when my employment was reduced from full-time to part-time. I got to "briefly" experience life as a stay at home mom. We enjoyed some mommy-daughter time; meeting up with some of my other mom friends and playing with our friends who we don't always get to see on a regular basis. Spending majority of 2009 pregnant, it became increasingly tougher to entertain a toddler all day long and as my belly grew, I had to throw out some of our daily activities like going to Monkey Joes and the park -- when it came time to wrap things up, Kate would find a way to climb to the top of the tallest playground equipment in the park and I'm sure the residents of Roswell enjoyed watching me -- a very pregnant woman-- climb up there after her.

Joey and I also spent some time teaching Kate's two-year-old Sunday school class earlier in the year and then we decided to take a break and rejoin our adult friends in our own Sunday School class. We also completed Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University, which was also offered through our church. Joey and I both learned alot and are currently working on the baby steps 1, 2 & 3! I have an additional baby step to work on and that is breaking up with Starbucks. For some reason, I just can't bring myself to do it. :)

All kidding aside, we do feel very fortunate to have made it through a very difficult year. We count our blessings each day!

On behalf of the Dufour Family, I wish each of you a healthy, happy and prosperous 2010! We look forward to seeing you soon!

"Potato Head"

Joey called me on my way home from work a couple of weeks ago after picking up Kate and Brendyn from daycare to tell me that Kate had blessed her baby brother with an affectionate nickname. As he paused, I thought how I couldn't wait to hear what she picked and was thinking it would be something really sweet...

So after a moment of silence, I said "soooo, what is it?" and he responded "POTATO HEAD".

In the car, Kate and Brendyn are side by side in the back seat of our Vue, and Kate sticks her head in Brendyn's face and shouts "POTATO HEAD" just like she were saying "PEEK A BOO"and pulls her head away so he can't see her and does it again. Brendyn gets the biggest smile on his face and coos back at his sister or lets out a baby laugh.

And so far the nickname is sticking because Brendyn doesn't have a lot of hair yet!

I can't wait to see what nickname's he'll come up with for his big sister...

5 Reasons to be Thankful or 5 Things that Make Kate VERY VERY HAPPY!

We spent Thanksgiving this year at my parents house and after we finished our dinner, my mom informed us that she had an activity that she wanted ALL of us to participate in. She walks quickly into the kitchen and grabs a bag of Christmas M&M's and passes out five to me, Kate, Joey, my dad, my brother Matt, his girlfriend Bonnie and my mom.

She explained that we were to go around and take turns expressing 5 reasons that we are Thankful. So my mom started and looking at my dad, she says "I'm thankful for the love that we share," and pops the M&M in her mouth. My turn, "I'm thankful for Brendyn and the wonderful addition he's been to our family and for the quiet calm that he brings."

Now, it's Kate's turn, and the only thing she wants to do right now is eat her five M&M's so she can have more... So I turn to Kate and I tell her that in order to eat her M&M, she has to tell us one thing that she is thankful for, which resulted in a big blank stare. So I rephrase and I ask Kate to tell us something that makes her happy and first she raises her hand (side note: because we have many "talkers" in our family and we all tend to talk over one another, my dad instituted the raise your hand in order to talk at the dinner table, which is kinda hard for my brother and I as adults to still master) and my dad tells Kate to go ahead, and she responds, "I like Ariel, mermaids, and flowers." We all chuckle and praise her for doing a good job sharing."

So next Joey, my dad, Matt (who has consumed many beers playing golf and frying the Turkey with Joey realizes that this has the potential to get sappy - quickly lists his five reasons and throws all 5 M&M's in his mouth), Bonnie goes next then my mom starts round 2, then me and now back to Kate, who once again raises her hand, stands up in the chair and says "I like mermaids... and flowers... and Cooper... and Mommy and Daddy, Memaw, Grampa... Brendyn... Matt... Bonnie." So we say, "Thank you Kate" and she takes her M&M and sits down.

Rounds 3, 4 & 5 continue to become more and more heartfelt from the adults. While Kate continues to be happy about her mermaids and flowers. After we conclude, my dad manages to point out that in my the five reasons that I shared I didn't individually state that I was thankful for Kate, so now I'd like to publicly share my 5 reasons to be thankful.

1. I am thankful for Brendyn for being a wonderful and quiet addition to our family.
2. I am thankful for my wonderful family and for a loving and supportive husband.
3. I am thankful that Joey and I enrolled in Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University and for all the wonderful things that we've learned in that class and that we complete our baby steps so one day we may attain Financial peace.
4. I am thankful for our church and my Sunday School class and for the support and the social outlet that they give our family.
5. And most of all I am thankful for Kate, and her ability to make me laugh and almost every day.

Hand Foot and Mouth - Not Again!

** LIVE FROM MYRTLE BEACH, SC --- Hello Dufour Family blog readers... it has been a long time since I've blogged about the latest happenings with our family, so since I'm out of town working in Myrtle Beach and registration is very slow today, I figured I would start publishing some of these drafts I have composed almost three weeks ago...** :)

Three weeks ago, Brendyn got hand, foot and mouth. On Monday night, we noticed that he was drooling excessively - it's teething time! Then he woke up around midnight with a high fever, which resulted in an early Tuesday morning trip to the pediatrician. My initial guess was an ear infection, but I was completely wrong. As I lay Brendyn down on the table in one of the patient rooms I noticed 4 small little red bumps around his mouth and I knew EXACTLY what it was Hand, Foot & Mouth, my favorite.

For the record, I had a very miserable experience with this nasty virus a couple of years ago when Kate picked it up at daycare. It took a full week for the virus to run its course with Kate, so when Brendyn got it I knew we were in for it. And of course, with Brendyn being so young there wasn't much I could do for him except give him Tylenol or motrin for the fever, oh and did I mention he was also teething? Double bonus.

I figured he picked it up at daycare, and I was right, but I was also learned how he really got it. For my mom friends, you may want to stop reading now - you're going to get ANGRY!

Joey was able to work from home and with Brendyn Wednesday and Thursday, so since he was doing that I was in charge of dropping Kate off and picking her up from school. I went to pick Kate up from daycare on Wednesday night close to 6:30 pm and as we were leaving I ran into one of Brendyn's infant room teachers and she asked me how Brendyn was feeling. I told her that he had HF&M so he wouldn't be back for a few days.

I admitted to her that I didn't know what the school's policy was for letting a child with hand foot and mouth return - did he have to be fever free and blisters gone or just stop running a fever?? -- I needed to get clarification, and in that moment I got some clarification that I wasn't exactly expecting. Brendyn's teacher proceeded to tell me that I could go ahead and bring him back to school (Umm, clearly are the wrong person to ask -- he's still contagious) because her son has the virus and also has been attending school all week long - and the school owner and directors had no idea.

"WTF... are you kidding me?" was the first the first angry thought that entered my mind after I buckled Kate in her seat and started the car to drive the one mile to our home. I immediately tried to call Joey and no answer, and having no one to confide in only fueled the fire that was raging in my mind. I couldn't believe it. How could someone who works with small infants every day be so stupid, wreckless, careless, negligent. And why on earth did I just stand there silent and not call her out on her stupid behavior? Completely shocked.

I called the school back after I told Joey what happend and spoke to the assistant director that evening and the owner the following morning I told the owner about my surprising conversation with Brendyn's teacher . They were as equally surprised as I was. Both assured me it would be handled immediately so I felt better and went to work.

Since this has happend, the teacher at fault has been removed from the infant room, but still remains employed at the school... and thankfully is not working in the infant or the preschool room.

Happy Halloween!

All dressed up and ready to go. Arriving at
our first "Trick or Treat House"
and they weren't even home.

Ariel & Sebastian pose for one last picture
before heading out for some Trick or Treating.

Brendyn as "Sebastian"

Kate as "Ariel"

Halloween2009 was filled with many firsts for our family. This was the first year Kate & Brendyn went "Trick or Treating." We managed to go to 25 houses, which I'll admit was way more than I thought we would ever do.

It was also the first time I got the kids to wear coordinating costumes. Kate dressed up as her favorite Disney Princess Ariel, The Little Mermaid and Brendyn went as Ariel's most responsible sidekick Sebastian. It was a lot of work dressing two kids who were not interested in being in their costumes -- yes, even Kate who loves Ariel more than anything did not want to put on her costume because I was ruining her dress by making her wear a turtleneck underneath it. So finally after 45 minutes of getting them dressed and taking pictures, we load up in the car and then it starts raining...

It was a light drizzle, but we went anyway. I pushed Brendyn in his strollerup a really big hill holding a huge red Travelers Insurance umbrella while Kate ran from house to house and collected an impressive stash of Halloween candy - I have eaten the majority of it already. After spending the day fly fishing on the Chattahoochie River, Daddy and Uncle Matt joined us for the last few houses and then we concluded the evening with dinner at our favorite Mexican Restaurant. Despite the drizzle it was still a great night!

Under the Weather

I promise I haven't completely abandoned my blog. I've spent the entire month of September and part of October fighting what I thought was a chest cold. After 2 weeks of endless hacking I decided to go to the doctor because I was growing concerned that the lingering cough could possibly be something more. It was.

During my doctors appointment I had to wear a mask because of my cough and I had several symptoms similar to the swine flu, which I was tested for and thank goodness it came back negative. While I was waiting for the results I started to panic with the thought of "what if..." I was SO relieved when the nurse practitioner told me I had pneumonia. Still not fun, but at least it's not swine flu!

While I've started to recover from pneumonia, I managed to pass my cough and congestion on to Brendyn. Poor thing has been sleeping sitting up for 10 days. And now I've managed to catch another head cold. Ugh, when will it go away! So I promise once we are finally over this stuff I will catch up and post pictures from Kate's Princess Party, Soccer Games, and show you some updated photos of Brendyn - he's 3 months now and he weighs 15 lbs 2 oz. He's gotten so big so fast!

Saturday Day Trip to Zoo Atlanta continued

Saturday Day Trip to Zoo Atlanta

On Saturday, Joey, Kate, Brendyn and I headed to Zoo Atlanta. The zoo had a weekend special where Fulton County & City of Atlanta residents and government employees received free admission. I was anticipaticing it to be packed so we got up at 7 am and got ready to be there right when it opened. The weather was great and the animals were really active in the morning. We were able to see the Lions wrestling, the silver back gorillas chasing each other and splashing in the water. Kate really enjoyed seeing Xi Lan (Shee Lan) the new baby panda. She even helped one of the zoo volunteers squeegee the viewing window.

As for Brendyn, he slept the entire time and woke up right as we were pulling out of the parking lot to head home. :) Here are some pictures from our zoo trip. Enjoy.

Brendyn Weighs in at his one-month check up

Brendyn surprised Joey and I today at his one-month check up. Before he was weighed Joey and I took a bet as to how big he was. I guessed 10 lbs 2 ounces and Joey guessed 10. 7 - we were both WAY off. Nurse Erin laid Brendyn on the scale and he weighed in at 11 lbs and 8.5 ounces and measured 22" in length. He's in the 75th-90th percentile for both weight and height.

Kate's First Trip to the Dentist

On Tuesday, Kate enjoyed her first trip to the dentist. We took her in to have her teeth cleaned and also to get her chipped tooth x-rayed. I was so proud of how well she did. The set up inside this pediatric dentist office is unreal - I want to go have my teeth cleaned there. When you walk in there are rolls of stickers right by the door so Kate picked out a princess sticker, then she walked around where all the chairs were and laid down. Above her head was a flat screen TV showing the movie "Aladdin". Kate kicked off her flip flops, hopped in the chair and let Ms. Karen clean her teeth with Kate's brand new Ariel tooth brush. She was in heaven!

My first day flying solo with two kids

On Monday, I started my full time venture as a mom with two children. I was a little nervous because both children have started a trend of needing something at the same time and I was spoiled over the last couple of weeks being able to help one and hand off the other to my husband or to my mom. The honeymoon is definitely over.

Day one actually went pretty well, I realized that in order to save time I need to make all of my bottles a head of time and keep the bag packed so I don't have to fool with it before we go anywhere.

We enjoyed a nice morning at the park, came home for lunch and nap time - everyone slept. Then I became too comfortable and too confident too soon ---I took both Kate and Brendyn to Target to get some groceries and toiletries and they were both well behaved. We came home and I took both kids upstairs and told Kate to watch Brendyn while I ran down to the car to bring up the 5 bags.

Here's where it all fell to pieces...

Sometime when I went downstairs, Kate locked both deadbolts on the front door of our apartment. I was gone not even two minutes and when I came back up and turned the handle I realized the door was locked. Thankfully I had my car keys so I put my house key in the door and unlocked it and went to push it open and and couldn't get in --I freaked. It was after 6 pm, Joey was on the way home and I had no idea how I was going to get inside to get to my two children. Brendyn was inside still strappped into his carseat and Kate was roaming freely inside the apartment. I stood outside the door screaming her name trying to get her to come to the door. Finally, I hear her on the other side of the door and I repeatedly asked her to open the door and she kept saying "Just a second". After seven minutes, she finally opened the door. She got her Tinkerbell chair and moved it to the door and unlocked the interior deadbolt.

Lesson learned: Don' t underestimate the intelligence of a three-year-old. Just when you think they can't you learn they can!

Brendyn's Work Out

Here are some pictures of our little guy working out on his floor gym. Right now, he enjoys looking at the black and white face with the mirror on the flip side and takes his right hand and bats at it spinning it around and around.

A Chipped Tooth

On Saturday, Kate attends dance class at the East Roswell Recreation Center. Yesterday, Joey's mom and sister (aka "JoJo and Sheesha") came with us to watch Kate's dance class. Joey and Alicia were busy in the gym shooting baskets while JoJo and I watched class and after her class was over we went in the gym to find them. Kate got busy on the court dribbiling the basketball, and while she was running around in her flip flops she fell and chipped the inside left corner of her top right tooth.

I was holding Brendyn and watching her and at the time I didn't think it was any big deal until Joey started shouting my name; I took off running and when I got over to them he told me that she had bit her lip and chipped her tooth. We were not able to retrieve the piece that fell off. Joey is pretty sure she may have swallowed it. Of course panic set in as Kate was set to leave Sunday to go to Mississippi for the week and I was trying so hard to find a dentist in Atlanta that was open on Saturday to fix the tooth. It didn't happen.

And there is NOTHING worse than the "I'm a total failure as a parent" feeling of not being able to get help for your child when something like this happens. It was killing me yesterday as I dialed dental office after dental office and I tried my best to shake it off realizing there is nothing I can do until someone calls me back on Monday.

We are fortunate that Kate is not in any terrible pain.

I should share that I had a similar incident when I was Kate's age, I chipped my tooth on the coffee table in the living room while wrestling with my little brother. Yesterday, my mom reminded me that I used to refer to it as "my dirty tooth" and how I wouldn't smile in pictures because the tooth discolored. I have to say yesterday's tooth incident brought back a lot of insecurities that I tried hard not to project onto Kate. So since the incident, I have put away her Ariel flip flops and slapped her tennis shoes on her feet. :)

Brendyn Honored at Church Today

We attended service this morning at Dunwoody United Methodist, and we were pleasantly surprised during this morning's announcements that the rosebud placed on the altar today was in honor of Brendyn's birth on July 3, 2009.

Brendyn is One-Week-Old Today

Brendyn is one-week-old today. In his first week, he's reached the following milestones:
* On Tuesday, he had his one-week follow up appointment with our pediatrician and he weighed in at 7 lbs 12.5 ounces.
* He is eating great - he's finishing a 2 ounce bottle of formula and taking in the same amount when I nurse him.
* He enjoyed a nice stroller ride at Roswell Area Park yesterday while big sister Kate enjoyed the playground. Weather was 75 degrees yesterday and it felt great to be outside.
* We saw our pediatrician yesterday for another weight re-check and since it would be another month until we go again, and I'm proud to say that Brendyn gained 4 ounces in two days! He's a hungry little guy. :)
* The best way to describe Brendyn is he's a mellow fellow. He is such a calm baby, he only cries or whimpers when he is hungry or needs a diaper change and the rest of the time he is sleeping peacefully. He loves to be held and cuddled. He likes to curl up in the fetal position and fall asleep on your chest. Its so cute.

Guess Who?

So it's been said that Kate and Brendyn look a lot alike when they were first born, and I tend to agree. So I'm throwing this one out to all our friends and family to take a guess to see if you can tell who is who.

Who am I? _________

Who am I? _________

Post your guesses in the comments field and I'll let you know if your right! :)

Brendyn is here!

On Friday, July 3, 2009, Joey, Kate and I welcomed Brendyn Paul Dufour to our family. Brendyn was born at 3:04 pm at Northside Hospital. He weighed 8lbs 2 ounces and was 20.5" long.

Thursday night, Joey and I checked into Northside Hospital so I could be induced at 5 am Friday morning. When I got there they checked me and I had gone from 2 to 3 cm dialated. We woke up at 3:30 am on Friday to start showering and get ready for the busy day ahead. My OB had prepared us for a "lunch time" delivery and by noon I was still only 4 cm dialted and I wasn't getting anywhere fast.

By 2 pm, I reached 6 cm however I was so numb from my epidural, my legs felt like they were frozen and weighed 100 lbs each - there was no way I could hold them to push, so my nurse had to turn my epidural down so I could get some feeling back in my legs. At 2:45 I was 10 cm and ready to roll... after 6 pushes Brendyn was born.

3rd of July Baby

Today, I am officially considered full term. Everyone keeps asking me "When are you going to have that baby?" Since labor has yet to happen on its own I just kept shrugging my shoulders, but now I can confidently say that Brendyn will be an official member of the Dufour family on Friday, July 3, 2009. Time - TBD!

As it stands now, I will check in Thursday afternoon to start the process of the induction for a Friday birth day. My OB says she'll have him out around noon on Friday. So only a few more days to go! And, just in time for the 4th of July holiday! I'll be holding my new baby and watching the Buckhead fireworks from my hospital room at Northside. So, now I'd like to wish everyone an early Happy Independance Day!

39 Week Check Up - Progress

Today, I went to the doctor for my 39 week check up and Joey and I were surprised to find out that I was 2cm dialated and my cervix was 30% softened. The doctor did do a procedure to help me along so we'll see if anything happens in the next 24-72 hours. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Monday, June 15, 2009

38 Week Check Up

Today at my weekly doctor's appointment they checked to see if my cervix is dialated and it's not. Brendyn is head down but he's floating right above my pelvis. I told my doctor that I'm betting on another induction. He just smiled at me and said "We'll see..." I guess we will. I go back again for another check a week from Wednesday, so I guess if you don't see pictures of a new baby between today and June 24 - you'll know I'm still pregnant.

Kate's First Dance Class

This morning I took Kate for her first dance class at East Roswell Recreation Center. I was so proud of myself -- I had the camera and video camera to document the occassion, and when it was time for class to start the teacher told me that parents weren't allowed to stay. I was crushed, but then as more parents started dropping off some younger students I saw why... there were a few who cried for the first 5-10 minutes for mom or dad and Ms. Carrie had the dual task of comforting and teaching.

Kate was so excited when I dropped her in the room. Once she took her shoes off, she made an instant friend with the studio mirror. She would watch herself twirl around, raise her arms up, jump up in the air and otherwise just smile silly at herself. It was pretty funny to watch through the classroom door window. And, to make it even better, one of Kate's friends from her school was in her dance class which was a nice surprise. I think Ms. Carrie had a little trouble today trying to get Kate and Lilly under control. Both girls liked running back and forth across the room and catching a glimpse of themselves in the mirror.

I did manage to catch a peek at the last five minutes of class and I saw Kate get up on the platform, face the mirror and place her hands on top of her head and do two plie's -- for which she earned two hand stamps. She had the best time today and I'm so happy!

37 Weeks and a Whole Lot of Nothing...

Today marks the beginning of my 37th week, and now I'm officially considered full-term! Brendyn is still head down - head is angled towards my right pelvis, and he's floating freely, not engaged.

Since I didn't go into labor on my own last time, my expectations of having the baby early are slim to none - I suspect they will induce me again. Call it female intuition. Anywho, I go back again next Monday and they'll start checking me to see if I am effaced at all. I'll keep you updated if I make any progress over the next week.

Celebrating 5 years of Marriage

Today, Joey and I are celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary. It's hard to believe how quickly time has passed since we've said "I Do."

Our engagement lasted for a year and a half and back then it seemed like our wedding day would never get here fast enough and now, five years later I wish I could relive our wedding day all over again.
I'm so thankful and greatful to have found such a wonderful and caring husband and I am looking forward to sharing many more years together.

Happy Annivesary Joey! I love you.

36 Weeks - Only 27 Days to go

This morning I went for my last ultrasound and Atlanta Perinatal Consultants. We got to see how big Brendyn has gotten since our visit four weeks ago. Brendyn is currently measuring 6 lbs and 6 oz. His head is down, but the technician said that he is just floating around - he isn't in the proper position yet.

I also had my 36 week check up with my OB, so now I am starting the weekly visits. My next appointment is Monday, so stay tuned for updates. We are getting really excited and can't wait to meet Brendyn.

Dinner Playdate

On Saturday night, Joey, Kate and I headed over to Clint & Sarah's house for a cookout. We were also joined by Jeff and Hayley Buice - Hayley is one of Kate's buddies. :)

Kate, Hayley and Avery enjoyed playing together in the playroom while the adults socialized and supervised. Kate and Hayley were checking out each other's princess dolls and showing each other their prized possessions. :)
After Avery went to bed, Kate and Hayley made themselves comfortable on the ottoman in Sarah's living room and watched "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and "Little Einsteins". They were so cute and when we suspected they were tired, we packed them up to go home, but neither Kate or Hayley were ready to leave Mr. Clint and Ms. Sarah's house. They were having such a good time they didn't want the night to end.

DIY - Brendyn's Nursery

Thanks to another rainy weekend, Joey and I managed to put up the chair rail, clean the carpet and move the crib and changing table into Brendyn's nursery. My next major project is to get the curtains up. We have a large window that requires a 116" decorative curain rod and so far I haven't found one so I'm actively looking and exploring alternatives...

Brendyn's 4D Ultra Sound - 32 Weeks

Today, I had an ultrasound appointment at Atlanta Perinatal Consultants and we were able to get the room where they have the 4D ultrasound machine. We were able to get some really nice profile shots of Brendyn. I think he strongly favors Joey - he has his nose - and I'm not complaining because it is a cute nose! Joey and I couldn't get over how strong of a resemblence Brendyn has to when Kate was first born. They look identical. I am getting really excited and I can't wait for him to be here!

Brendyn's Nursery - Phase I: Painting Complete

A close up of our paint job - don't judge yet, we still have to do a few touch ups! :)

Watching paint dry...

Joey is measuring the length of the wall and drawing lines so eventually
we can put up chairwall to divide our two shades.

Prepping our blank canvas.

This week, Joey was busy converting our sunroom into Brendyn's nursery. Right now, our place looks like a total disaster because we had to move all of the furniture out in order to start painting -- and the disarray is really making me cranky -- I'm a total nester. I love to have everything picked up and put away and until we're done I'm just going to have to grin and bare it.

So after several discussions and trips to Home Depot, we finally agreed that instead of painting a single shade we would use a warm, yellow neutral on the top of the wall and paint the lower half blue and put up chairwall. This week Joey managed to get the entire room painted including the trim, where I was able to lend a hand for a bit today-- I had to strap Kate into her high chair and roll through all of our DVR'd episodes of "Little Einsteins" while we worked, but with two of us on the job it went much quicker. The next phase is adding the chairrail and replacing the electical covers and hanging the curtains. Once we get that up, we'll clean the carpet, add the accordion doors and move the furniture in! I'm getting really excited and I can't wait to see how it all looks once we are done.
