3rd of July Baby

Today, I am officially considered full term. Everyone keeps asking me "When are you going to have that baby?" Since labor has yet to happen on its own I just kept shrugging my shoulders, but now I can confidently say that Brendyn will be an official member of the Dufour family on Friday, July 3, 2009. Time - TBD!

As it stands now, I will check in Thursday afternoon to start the process of the induction for a Friday birth day. My OB says she'll have him out around noon on Friday. So only a few more days to go! And, just in time for the 4th of July holiday! I'll be holding my new baby and watching the Buckhead fireworks from my hospital room at Northside. So, now I'd like to wish everyone an early Happy Independance Day!

39 Week Check Up - Progress

Today, I went to the doctor for my 39 week check up and Joey and I were surprised to find out that I was 2cm dialated and my cervix was 30% softened. The doctor did do a procedure to help me along so we'll see if anything happens in the next 24-72 hours. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

38 Week Check Up

Today at my weekly doctor's appointment they checked to see if my cervix is dialated and it's not. Brendyn is head down but he's floating right above my pelvis. I told my doctor that I'm betting on another induction. He just smiled at me and said "We'll see..." I guess we will. I go back again for another check a week from Wednesday, so I guess if you don't see pictures of a new baby between today and June 24 - you'll know I'm still pregnant.

Kate's First Dance Class

This morning I took Kate for her first dance class at East Roswell Recreation Center. I was so proud of myself -- I had the camera and video camera to document the occassion, and when it was time for class to start the teacher told me that parents weren't allowed to stay. I was crushed, but then as more parents started dropping off some younger students I saw why... there were a few who cried for the first 5-10 minutes for mom or dad and Ms. Carrie had the dual task of comforting and teaching.

Kate was so excited when I dropped her in the room. Once she took her shoes off, she made an instant friend with the studio mirror. She would watch herself twirl around, raise her arms up, jump up in the air and otherwise just smile silly at herself. It was pretty funny to watch through the classroom door window. And, to make it even better, one of Kate's friends from her school was in her dance class which was a nice surprise. I think Ms. Carrie had a little trouble today trying to get Kate and Lilly under control. Both girls liked running back and forth across the room and catching a glimpse of themselves in the mirror.

I did manage to catch a peek at the last five minutes of class and I saw Kate get up on the platform, face the mirror and place her hands on top of her head and do two plie's -- for which she earned two hand stamps. She had the best time today and I'm so happy!

37 Weeks and a Whole Lot of Nothing...

Today marks the beginning of my 37th week, and now I'm officially considered full-term! Brendyn is still head down - head is angled towards my right pelvis, and he's floating freely, not engaged.

Since I didn't go into labor on my own last time, my expectations of having the baby early are slim to none - I suspect they will induce me again. Call it female intuition. Anywho, I go back again next Monday and they'll start checking me to see if I am effaced at all. I'll keep you updated if I make any progress over the next week.

Celebrating 5 years of Marriage

Today, Joey and I are celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary. It's hard to believe how quickly time has passed since we've said "I Do."

Our engagement lasted for a year and a half and back then it seemed like our wedding day would never get here fast enough and now, five years later I wish I could relive our wedding day all over again.
I'm so thankful and greatful to have found such a wonderful and caring husband and I am looking forward to sharing many more years together.

Happy Annivesary Joey! I love you.

XOXO,
Amy

36 Weeks - Only 27 Days to go

This morning I went for my last ultrasound and Atlanta Perinatal Consultants. We got to see how big Brendyn has gotten since our visit four weeks ago. Brendyn is currently measuring 6 lbs and 6 oz. His head is down, but the technician said that he is just floating around - he isn't in the proper position yet.

I also had my 36 week check up with my OB, so now I am starting the weekly visits. My next appointment is Monday, so stay tuned for updates. We are getting really excited and can't wait to meet Brendyn.

Dinner Playdate

On Saturday night, Joey, Kate and I headed over to Clint & Sarah's house for a cookout. We were also joined by Jeff and Hayley Buice - Hayley is one of Kate's buddies. :)

Kate, Hayley and Avery enjoyed playing together in the playroom while the adults socialized and supervised. Kate and Hayley were checking out each other's princess dolls and showing each other their prized possessions. :)
After Avery went to bed, Kate and Hayley made themselves comfortable on the ottoman in Sarah's living room and watched "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and "Little Einsteins". They were so cute and when we suspected they were tired, we packed them up to go home, but neither Kate or Hayley were ready to leave Mr. Clint and Ms. Sarah's house. They were having such a good time they didn't want the night to end.
