Brendyn's Nursery - Phase I: Painting Complete

TA-DA!

A close up of our paint job - don't judge yet, we still have to do a few touch ups! :)

Watching paint dry...

Joey is measuring the length of the wall and drawing lines so eventually
we can put up chairwall to divide our two shades.

Prepping our blank canvas.

This week, Joey was busy converting our sunroom into Brendyn's nursery. Right now, our place looks like a total disaster because we had to move all of the furniture out in order to start painting -- and the disarray is really making me cranky -- I'm a total nester. I love to have everything picked up and put away and until we're done I'm just going to have to grin and bare it.

So after several discussions and trips to Home Depot, we finally agreed that instead of painting a single shade we would use a warm, yellow neutral on the top of the wall and paint the lower half blue and put up chairwall. This week Joey managed to get the entire room painted including the trim, where I was able to lend a hand for a bit today-- I had to strap Kate into her high chair and roll through all of our DVR'd episodes of "Little Einsteins" while we worked, but with two of us on the job it went much quicker. The next phase is adding the chairrail and replacing the electical covers and hanging the curtains. Once we get that up, we'll clean the carpet, add the accordion doors and move the furniture in! I'm getting really excited and I can't wait to see how it all looks once we are done.

29 Weeks

29 weeks and 6 days.

Here is a picture of me pregnant at 7 months.
Brendyn is getting bigger and bigger each day and my belly is continuing to grow with him.
I can't believe he is going to be here in 60 days. I am excited and a little nervous because having one child has been a breeze, and I'm anxious-excited to see how well I do trying to juggle two children... I guess I'll find out the answer soon.

A Baby Shower for Brendyn

Me and my friend Melissa.

Oh, boy! I can't wait to dress our little guy!

Here I am posing with my
wonderful friend, co-worker and shower hostess Bonnie.

Johanna (mother-in-law), Kate, Me, and sister-in-law,
Alicia take a picture before we leave for the shower.

Mom, Kate, Amy & Dad gather for a quick family picture
before the ladies head to the shower.

On Sunday, my friend/co-worker/brother's girlfriend, Bonnie hosted a baby shower to honor the June arrival of our soon-to-be-born son Brendyn . Having, Kate first, Joey and I didn't really have a lot of 'gender neutral' baby clothing so our friends and family gathered yesterday and showered us with a lot of really cute "BLUE" items for our little boy! Bonnie did such a great job as the hostess and all of the food she made for the shower was delicious; we even played a couple of really fun games - fill in the blank nursery rhymes, which I did pretty well on, except for a couple and then we also played another fun game where we had to match the baby animal name to the adult animal - that one was tough and I did terrible... thankfully Kate took my paper away to draw on it because I'm sure I didn't get very many right. My friend Melissa and my sister in law Alicia (who is a vet tech employed at Mississippi State) tied with 17 and took home some Biscotti as their prize. I am very greatful to my friends and family who came yesterday and cannot begin to say thank you enough for all of the gifts! We are forever greatful!

Brendyn's Baby Shower

My mom and I posing for a picture at the shower.

Kate assisted Mommy with present opening and showing
off Brendyn's gifts to all of the shower guests.

Me and my friend Sarah at the shower.
Sarah also brought her camera and captured some really great photos!

Emily and I posing for a picture.

Mom-to-be holding a really cute gift basket full of goodies from my mother-in-law. I didn't event want to take the items out because she arranged it and it looked so great.

Spring Pictures

We took Kate to Portrait Innovations today to have pictures made in her Easter Dress as well as some fun, casual shots. I am so happy with the way they turned out. I spent more than I probably should have on the pictures, but all I know is I'm going to be spending some money on frames - because we have several framers! :)

Firetruck Baby Bedding

Pictured Above: Brendyn's Bedding- Firetrucks.

As soon as I found out that we were having a boy, I knew I wanted the nursery theme to have a firefighter/firetruck theme. As most of you know, firefighting was a big part of Joey's life at Auburn and since we STILL have all of the gear including the personalized DUFOUR helmet - I knew this is exactly what I wanted to do - it was just a matter of finding the right one.

I searched for a couple of months, and recently purchased the brand new, 13 piece firetruck bedding you see pictured above from a seller in Nashville, TN on Ebay for $99.95. The set comes with everything you see except for the lampshade and crib mobile. But as soon as I saw it, I was so excited because it was exactly what I have been searching for.

This month, we've been busy with home rennovating projects - before I can start the nursery, I am waiting to have a reupholstery project completed. We went back and forth about buying new living room furniture, but as badly as Kate beat up my cream colored slip covers and with another one on the way; I figured my little ones would gravitate to the new furniture with their sticky hands and all and it would be over! :)

I am anxiously waiting for the UPS truck, because the bedding is scheduled to be delivered today. And then I'm sure we'll be taking a trip to Home Depot for some paint swatches so we can begin converting our sunroom into Brendyn's nursery.
