Together Again!

This weekend I headed down to Auburn for my sorority reunion. More than 250 Zeta Xi members attended the rededication ceremony on Saturday night. It was awesome to be in a room full of sisters and hear stories from the past and present. It was so great to see all my favorite sisters from my pledge class (1998) as well as sisters who rushed me and sisters that we all recruited to the chapter. I really enjoyed getting to kick back in Auburn with a glass of wine and talk to all of my girls and catch up as well as reminisce on some of our favorite Alpha Xi memories!

Friday evening, we all met for dinner at the Old Auburn Ale House, which is now the Strutting Duck. We wined and dined and took lots of pictures then at 10 pm we headed over to the Auburn Hotel & Conference Center for an all-inclusive social.

On Saturday at 2:00 pm all of the Zeta Xi alumnae were invited to Oak Hall in the new Village for a tour of the sorority hall and chapter room. It is beautiful and I was so proud and insanely jealous of the new accomodations our current sisters are able to experience. We've come along way from the teal walls in Dowell Hall. :)
At 5:00 pm, we headed over the the Marriott at Grand National for a rededication ceremony. I have to to admit I was really nervous because I didn't remember the words to the songs or the symphony, but luckily enough we sang them over and over as it took some time for all of the sisters to make their way around the room.

After the ceremony we enjoyed a great dinner and listened to several speakers update us on Alpha Xi Delta past, present and future. It was so great to hear how far we've come. And since 1980 our chapter has initiated more than 1700 sisters. I was very proud and I know that the chapter is dedicated to keeping up all of the hard work.
I really enjoyed talking to some of the active sisters behind us. And I almost fell out of my chair when then told us that they didn't sing and sway anymore. That was a huge part of preparing for rush - getting everyone to sing, snap and sway to the music.
I had a great weekend and I'm already sad that it is over. And I'm already looking forward to the next get together!

Offer Accepted - One Step Closer to becoming Home Owners!

I

January is a crazy time for me work wise because that is when the winter gift show season officially kicks off and my travel schedule kicks into high gear. So you'd think the last thing I'd try to do during show time is buy a house, right? Well just when you think it couldn't get any busier around here, I throw home ownership into the mix.
With our apartment lease ending in February, we've been actively looking for a bigger place and I'm delighted to say that we've found one.
Joey and I have been spending our evenings going through a number of home listings trying to narrow down which homes we wanted to potentially go visit. So a couple of Saturday's ago, we met with our realtor and she showed us some homes in the Canton area and pictured above is our future home. Pending a successful inspection, we plan to make this our new home. It is a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath in Holly Springs, GA. We are so excited and cannot wait to officially make this our new home. Closing is set for February 19, so it is safe to say I will be spending the weekend of my 30th birthday moving into our new home. I can't wait!

Nap Time!

Kate climbed in Brendyn's crib and was being all lovey-dovey towards her baby brother and I thought these pictures were too cute. I love how Kate wraps herself up in Brendyn's blanket as she prepares to lay down for quiet time.

One Cool Little Dude

On Christmas morning, Brendyn opened his stocking and found a pair of sunglasses that were his size. Check out our cool little dude! :)

"Ride Sally Ride"

We spent Christmas '09 in Scooba, MS with Joey's family. We woke early to open presents and after we finished "JoJo" (my mother-in-law) and "Sheesha" (sister-in-law) had a surprise for Kate.
JoJo told us that we were going outside to take pictures at 8:30 am and I knew she was up to something because we were all still in our pajamas and no one had showered. She said we would be outside for a while, so we put on our coats and tennis shoes and are instructed to stand on the sidewalk in front of the door, while she calls to Alicia to bring out the surprise.
And Surprised we were. Out from behind the work shed comes Alicia with a pony for Kate. Joey and I couldn't believe it - we were speechless to say the least. Kate was so excited. JoJo told Kate that this was her pony. And that the Pony's name is Sally. After posing for a few photos, Kate finally got a chance to ride Sally and feed her some peppermint treats.
For those of you wondering where Sally is going to call home - I can say that Sally is definitely a country girl and not quite ready for city life. So she will remain in Scooba with JoJo and Sheesha at the barn, but I know she can't wait for Kate to return to go for a ride.

Christmas 2009 was a very special Christmas for all of us!
